Route by car along the east coast of Mallorca

On June 21, Spain lifted the state of emergency and the country's borders were reopened so travelers from the Schengen area and from EU countries can visit this beautiful land. Also national residents can travel between the different regions. Tourists can now land on the island and enjoy a vacation in the Mallorcan paradise.

Although everything has changed in the last few months, the island has already adapted to this new normal. From the first moment you arrive at Palma de Mallorca airport, you will see how all the sanitary procedures are applied: taking the temperature, the safety distance and declaring if you have had any kind of contact and where you have been.

If you are looking to enjoy a few days of sun and beach, away from the routine and the schedules, we have the ideal destination for it. Mallorca is already prepared so you can visit it and we propose you a route by car along the entire east coast of the island, taking Arenal as the starting point of the itinerary.

After having rested in one of the rooms of the Hotel Cosmopolitan Mallorca and having enjoyed the complete and tasty breakfast that the hotel offers you, we suggest that you start this journey from this same place and head towards Sa Ràpita.

On the way, we recommend you make a stop that, without a doubt, will love: the Mirador de Sa Torre. It is a wonderful place where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views that the island has to offer. In addition, you will not only be fascinated by the views, but you can also cool off by going down to the sea.

Continue with the route setting course, again, towards the town of Sa Ràpita, specifically head towards Es Trenc beach. It is one of the best-known beaches in Mallorca, and it has earned its popularity thanks to its crystal clear waters and white sand. In addition, its length will allow you to maintain social distance from other people.

Enjoy a pleasant time on this magnificent beach located next to the municipality of Campos. A curious fact about this natural protection zone is that near it are the Salinas del Trenc, where the traditional ‘Flor de Sal’ is harvested.

The town of Ses Salines is known for its honey and salt, so we recommend that you make a stop along the way to discover these products. Visit the oldest building in the place: the church of San Bartolomé, located in the Plaza de Sant Bartomeu. Surely the tranquility and surroundings of this town will captivate you.

Resume your journey heading this time towards Cala D’Or, but before, we advise you to turn off to the Cabo de las Salinas Lighthouse. It is the lighthouse located at the southernmost point of the island. As a curiosity, we highlight that in 1982 it became the first lighthouse in Spain to be powered by solar panels.

Once you arrive at the town of Cala D’Or, you will find restaurants and bars where you can stop to rest and recharge your batteries, eating in a typical Majorcan food establishment or savoring a delicious seafood paella. Afterwards, head towards Portocolom and enjoy a delicious ice cream with sea views.

During the entire route you can make stops at the different coves that you will find until you reach the final destination. Among them, Cala Murada, Cala Domingos, Cala Antena, Cala Romántica ... Magnificent coves where you can rest and enjoy unforgettable sunsets.

We will finish this itinerary in Cala Ratjada, the second most important fishing town on the Balearic island. This area is distinguished by its traditional character and its landscape stands out for the number of ‘llaüts’ (the traditional Majorcan ship) that we can find in its port. We recommend that you take a tour of the entire promenade, from Cala Gat to Sa Pedruscada cove.

You can end the day having dinner in one of the fantastic restaurants that you will find in the area. Most of them offer a wide variety of international cuisine.

From the Hotel Cosmopolitan Mallorca we wish you to enjoy this wonderful paradise, where some of the most spectacular natural landscapes you can imagine are located.
