Family plans to do this winter in Mallorca

During summer, Mallorca is full of tourists that choose this destination to spend their holidays. They arrive to the island with the intention to enjoy high temperatures at the uncountable beaches and coves that this offers. What many people do not know is that the biggest island on the Balearic archipelago offers a plethora of activities and plans that go beyond sunbathing under the hot sun.

If you believe that Mallorca has much more to show, keep on reading, as we will propose a series of plans for you to do as a family during this winter that are going to surprise you. Why not starting the year practicing some outdoors sport? Spending a Sunday morning hiking around the Sierra de Tramuntana is one of the main appeals that only this island can offer you. Furthermore, you will enjoy an amazing view. We should not forget that in 2011 this mountain range was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

With the arrival of winter and low temperatures, from time to time, we all fancy taking a hot chocolate in the afternoon to increase our body temperature. And what is better than doing it surrounded by your relatives in Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo? An emblematic restaurant that know has three establishments in Palma.

Mallorca is an island that offers a special and different charm in each of its corners, but some places are a must-go, at least once a year. The towns of Valldemossa, Sóller or Deyá offer breathtaking spots for all the visitors. Organizing an excursion to one of these villages is a fantastic idea to spend the day with your family and enjoy outdoors.

If what you are looking for is escaping routine and city life, but you do not want to leave the island, we have an idea that both the young and older ones in the family will love at the same extend. Going up the Monasterio de Lluc at the weekend to discover it is a great idea. You can also visit the Santuario de Santa María de Lluc and its botanic garden.

Palma is not only the capital of the island but also from the Balearics. It has one of the most well-preserved and beautiful old towns in Spain. Spending a morning walking around its streets and visiting the Catedral de Mallorca could be a fantastic idea to enjoy a Saturday with your loved ones.

Another area in Palma that has become lively during the last years is the neighborhood of Santa Catalina. In it the options to eat or take a drink are infinite, in its streets you will find restaurants and bars of every type and for all tastes. Also, most places are open until late in the morning.

Usually, with everyday rushes, we do not have time to have breakfast with our family in peace. We recommend you do it on a Sunday morning in one of the emblematic bars in the Majorcan capital, the Bar Bosch, located in the heart of the city. We suggest you order one of their famous llagostes, which consists of a sandwich made of a typical bread from Palma called llonguet. You have many types, but the most typical ones are made of sobrassada and Mahon cheese.

At Hotel Cosmopolitan we do not hesitate, Mallorca is to be enjoyed during the 365 days of the year. We hope that, after reading this article, you have enough ideas to spend a great winter time with your loved ones.
