Traditions of Easter in Mallorca
Easter is a special time of the year in Mallorca, which invites you to connect with the culture and the most deeply rooted traditions on the island, which began centuries ago.
One of the most surprising aspects of this festivity is the dates on which it is celebrated. Depending on the year, the temporary range varies between March 22 and April 25. Some of the most impressive take place on Holy Thursday, Holy Friday, Easter Sunday or Angel Sunday, and are very famous those of Palma, although they are repeated in many towns on the island.
Although it is tradition that the members of the brotherhoods deliver sweet „confits“ to those who come to the streets to see the processions, when you think of Easter you can not forget his gastronomic side. A great variety of traditional recipes, sweet and salty, delight everyone during these days, and its preparation is already part of the family traditions of Mallorca.
Among the salty dishes you can find „cocarrois“ and „panades“.
